Conduct daily safety walks, inspections, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs/JSAs) with foremen, technicians, and project teams. Ensure pre-task planning is completed for high-risk activities (rigging, lifts, energized work, confined space). Provide immediate coaching to maintain a “safety-first, production-second” culture.
Safety Program Development & Implementation (20%)
- Develop and continuously improve the Safety Management System (SMS), SOPs, and field controls specific to State Mechanical Services’ HVAC/mechanical operations, including fall protection, rigging, LOTO, confined space, and refrigerant handling. Maintain a practical Safety Manual and Field Handbook built for real job-site conditions.
Training, Competency & Field Coaching (15%)
- Deliver hands-on field training (ladder safety, PPE, equipment operation, lift certification) and lead new-hire safety orientations tailored to SMS job hazards. Coach supervisors on toolbox talks and safety leadership. Maintain training matrices, qualification records, and fit-testing documentation.
Incident Prevention, Response & Investigation (15%)
- Respond immediately to incidents and near misses. Lead structured root-cause investigations, issue corrective/preventive actions, and verify closure. Facilitate post-incident debriefs to translate lessons learned into preventive action.
Regulatory Compliance, Documentation & Stakeholder Interface (15%)
- Ensure compliance with OSHA 1910/1926, EPA, and customer-specific requirements. Maintain SDSs, safety logs, inspection documentation, and training records. Interface with GCs, clients, and insurers to meet safety documentation and job-site expectations.
